Shipping container deliveries are one of the most common jobs we handle. Whether it's a 20ft storage container for a construction site or a 40ft unit being positioned as a permanent structure, the process follows the same reliable pattern.
Before the Vehicle Arrives
Once you've confirmed your booking, our team will have reviewed access to your site. If there are low bridges, weight restrictions or permit requirements on the route, these are dealt with in advance. We'll confirm an arrival window with you — typically a half-day slot.
On the Day
The hiab crane lorry arrives with the container already loaded. The driver will walk the placement area with you to confirm the exact position and check ground conditions. Outriggers are deployed to stabilise the vehicle, and the crane lifts the container clear of the lorry bed and swings it into position.
A standard 20ft container on a clear site with straightforward access typically takes 30 to 60 minutes from arrival to completion. Tighter sites or longer crane reaches take a little longer.
What to Prepare
- Clear the placement area of obstructions and overhead cables
- Ensure the ground can support the container's weight once placed
- Have someone on site to confirm the exact position
- Let us know in advance about any height or width restrictions on approach roads
