Steel beam deliveries are one of the more technically demanding hiab jobs. The loads are heavy, long, and need to be placed accurately — sometimes at height, sometimes directly into a frame. Getting it right the first time matters.
What We Can Handle
Our hiab crane lorries regularly deliver and position RSJs, universal beams, hollow sections, channel steel, angle iron and fabricated steelwork. Loads up to several tonnes at close reach are well within the capability of our vehicles. For longer members — 10m and above — the rigging arrangement needs careful planning to avoid bowing or uneven load distribution.
Placing Steel Into Position
Where the steel needs to go into a frame or onto bearing points, the driver works closely with the site team. The crane can hold the load in position while the steel is guided and bolted. This eliminates the need for a mobile crane on smaller structural jobs, keeping costs and site logistics significantly simpler.
What to Tell Us When Quoting
- Length and weight of the longest/heaviest piece
- Whether steel needs to be placed at height
- The crane reach required from the lorry's parking position
- Site access details — road width, overhead clearances
