Moving plant machinery — excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, compressors and more — is a regular part of our work. The combination of a capable crane and a flat or low-loading body makes hiab lorries ideal for the majority of plant transport jobs on UK sites.
What We Can Move
- Compact excavators (1 to 8 tonne)
- Dumpers and dumper trucks
- Plate compactors and road rollers
- Telehandlers (where crane capacity permits)
- Generators and compressors
- Attachments: buckets, breakers, augers
How the Lift Is Approached
Before any plant machinery is lifted by crane, the driver checks the manufacturer's lift points, the current weight of the machine (fuel, attachments and ballast all affect this), and confirms the crane is correctly configured for that lift. There are no shortcuts — every machine is treated as a separate lift assessment.
Site-to-Site and Depot Moves
We handle site-to-site moves, collection from hire depots, and returns. If you're moving multiple machines as part of a project wind-down or mobilisation, we can coordinate multi-load runs to reduce the number of vehicle movements.
Low Loader or Hiab?
For larger plant — crawler excavators over 10 tonne, for example — a low loader is often the right choice. For compact plant and machinery up to around 8 tonne, a hiab crane lorry is typically faster and more flexible, particularly on sites with awkward access. If you're unsure which is right for your job, tell us what you're moving and we'll advise.
